During what time period was your person famous? What impact did they have on history? How was life different during their time period versus today?

My research subject was Adolf Hitler, dictator of Germany. Adolf founded the Nazi party that still functions as a minority in Europe. He eliminated millions of Jews, and other "lower races." He secretly established several concentration camps where millions were imprisoned and starved or worked to death. One of these victims was Anne Frank, author of the famous wartime diary, who died at Bergen-Belson from disease.

I really don't think the concentration camps were a huge secret. :P

They were kept under wraps until the war started. Only select government officails were aware of their existence, and even then, the camp's functions were still fuzzy (gas chambers, human incinerators).

King Henry VIII was born in 1491 and died in 1547, and he was a little crazy... OK, he was really crazy. He had six wives, two of them beheaded, one died of natural causes, and two were divorced. The last one lived on after he died, and if I remember correctly her name was Catherine Howard(his wives names were either Anne, Jane, or Catherine). He also had frequent mood swings. Sometimes he would let murderer's go free, and put to death someone who only commited a small crime. No one really could figure out what was going on in that mind of his. He would also turn his council against each other, for fear that they would overthrow him and take away his power. He was very paranoid about that, but he was also very insecure.

My person was infamous because of what he had done. This is because he was a dictator for more than a decade and he was a brutal murder. He killed those he didn't like in his own country.

For Saddam Hussien the time period that he lived in is much different from the lives of most people in U.S.A. He grew up into a poor family. His father was very brutal and enjoyed beating his own son! Even though this sounds like something he deserved for killing all these people, note that this was when he was a child. His father made him work instead of go to school like everyday kids should. When Saddam became older, he moved in with his uncle and went to school at the age of 10. So yea, very different childhood for him than us.

The government WERE the Nazi's. Only the top officails knew or even cared about what happened to the Jews. Until rumors started spreading, many people weren't aware of the concentration camps's existance.
