My person is Rosa Parks. She over came obstacles in her life by doing what she belived in. For example she was sitting on a bus she was tired and did not want to give up her seat on the bus so she stayed were she was. When she did not get up the bus driver got up and when for the police and they came and took her away. This lead to the Montomgary boycott.

Nat turner is famous because he revolted on the white people for enslaving his race and beating and killing them. He overcame his obsticals in his life beacause he was smart and he was a priest in a african american church and he got a white man to get baptised at his church. he had to plan his revolt thuroghly and he did. when they attacked the whites they used the element of surprise until they got to to jerusilum and attack the soldiers and they lost. nat was captured after about 2 months of eluding capture.

Louis Armsrtong grew up in Stroyville, New Orleans which was predominantly african american. This was during segregation. His part of town was a pretty bad place to live, there was a lot of crime and things like that. Louis's mother worried about him alot. Arifcan Americans werent noticed as much as white people. Louis Armstrong worked hard to be noticed by everyone, and his playing sometimes brought both races together like in Chicago.

Martin Luther King Jr, did everything in his power to stop segragation. He also very involved with the civil rights movement. He led the march to washington D.C. He gave speeches and spoke is mind about everything that was going on. Although other people disagreeded with Martin he still gave his speeches and tried to do everything to lead the civil rights movement!

Oprah Winfrey is a very successful talk show host. She started out at 17 on a radio station as an after school job. After that she went to college at Tennessee State University (her father didn't want he far from home). Her sophomore year she got hired on WTVF station and bounced from talk show to talk show after that. Finally in 1985 she got her very own talk show called the Oprah Winfrey Show. In 1986 she established her very own production company. From this talk show she's been nominated and won several Emmy awards. Oprah is also known for giving her studio audience great gifts. One time in 2004 she gave all 276 of her audience members new cars. As well as that, Ms.Winfrey has given back to the world by starting a school for girls in South Africa.

Martin Luther King jr was a very inspirational person,he sorta gave up his personal life just to end/change segragation. He was a man of peace and love and did not want anyone to hate the people who hated them just because of their race. He forgave the people who hated and hurt him, for example on September 1958, "A dranged black woman", Izola Ware Curry plunged a letter opener in Martins chest while he was on his first book tour. He told the police not to prosecute her but to get her healed. That shows you that he could not hate anyone on his journey of change, but to love and get by on faith.

Ida B. Wells-Barnett had to over come many obstacles, but not just because of her race. She was a journalist and she wrote very strongly about her view points especially on the lynching of African Americans. For one of those articles her entire office was smashed and she was forced to leave town. Most of the time she just ignored the comments, never retaliating at that point. However later on she would meet with many famous people such as the president and Fredrick Douglas. She also held ralleys and investigated the scenes of many brutal lynching. In this way she voiced her opinions and overcame racial obstacles.

My famous person overcomed racism and hatred form white people and some african americans232.Dr. Charles Drew was the only person who identifed blood plasma and proteceting it from the smallest bit of contamination. Its nickname is "liquid dinomite."Dr.Drew was also good at sports espically basketball and track. The obstacle that Drew tried too overcome was the racism of afircan american medical doctors being bad because of thier actions and their race. Some white people in the military will die because they will not take an african americans blood.

Harriet Tubman was an antislavery activist. She was born into slavery around 1820. She was unbelievably strong for a young girl so she was sent to the fields to work. One day, she noticed a male slave getting ready to escape so she followed. The slave watcher spotted them and chased them to a country store. When the slave ran out of the store, Harriet tried to guard the young man and in return the guard picked up a two pound weight and threw it at the man but instead it hit Harriet in the head. She suffered from a cracked skull and a major concussion. The weight left a gash in her forehead and gave her sleeping spells that would last the rest of her life. As Harriet grew older, she began conducting the Underground Railroad which was a series of houses that lead runaway slaves to the North. Harriet led over 3000 slaves to freedom in 19 trips. As she became older she joined the army and became a nurse in the Civil War. Harriet Tubman was a strong and brave woman. She had lived a very hard life but it all paid off when she was given a medal from Queen Victoria. Sadly, Harriet dies in pneumonia in her home for sick and elderly blacks. Harriet Tubman...a brave, intelligent woman and her name will last forever!
